Today’s 30 Things My Children Should Know About Me is “What is your dream job, and why?” Really I have two “Dream Jobs.” Law Enforcement and Management.
With Law Enforcement, It came from growing up and having good Police Officers around me. I always wanted to be able to help those around me. I saw that with the police officers that have helped my family along the way. I was closer to being a teenager when I saw this mostly. See, My father was not always well. He passed away in 2006 and I am happy he is no longer in pain. Donald, my father, had heart problems and strokes from the time I was 13 years old and I still remember some of his bad times. He would forget where he placed something and think I stole it. Well, if you call 911, they have to come. There was two different occasions that the police really helped him. Once, the threatened to take his life, they asked him a few times to stop saying it, before they took him to get help. The other time was when he went missing. They searched all night. I still don’t know how my father got into our shed, but there he was, cold and afraid. The Mesquite Police Department has always been good to my family and I am really thankful for that.
Now, My mom has always been a Manager. I remember going to her store where she worked and spending all night with her. Helping and having fun. Then I also remember her making Manager of the Year several times. She is a inspiration to me. She raised two kids, and pretty much had to raise her “Child” Husband. All the while, being the bread winner in our family. My mom inspired me to make the same move a few years ago. To go into management. I was given my first position in management and I used her as a resource to fiddle my way through it. I did it, I was able to keep the account and open a new facility. I loved it more and more. It is the reason why I am where I am today. I am still in Law Enforcement, but as a Security Manager. I just hope I can make my mother proud and be even half the manager she always was.
